Writing Samples: IBM and Unica

I moved to Unica because the documentation team was starting to convert their FrameMaker documentation to DITA, and I wanted to gain experience using DITA. Initially, I learned about the basic concepts of structured authoring, then I took an interest in the tools. Unica was one of the initial implementers of Quadralay WebWorks ePublisher's DITA adapter and I helped test and get it working. I learned XSLT to transform our source into customized outputs where needed. I started automating a lot of our build processes.

The past few years, I have been spending 100% of my time working on automating our documentation processes. All the documentation I have been writing recently is internal only and not available as a sample.

Unica Optimize User's Guide

Audience

Optimize is an add-on for Unica Campaign, a tool to help marketers run advertising campaigns. Optimize helps prevent offer fatigue and meet campaign constraints across campaigns.

Purpose

This guide is intended for marketers to write complex rules to optimize contacts across multiple marketing campaigns.

Audience

Optimize runs against very large databases (millions of rows) using complicated rule sets. It can take many, many hours to run through all the calculations. This guide helps to troubleshoot the intricasies of tuning your database and application properly to improve performance.
